An open exhibition about an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the Future Hospital took place at Church House, St Helier on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th May 2017.

Planning regulations require an EIA to be undertaken on proposed large-scale developments. This is to assess the potential effect on the surrounding area while building work is in progress.

Following the decision to build a new hospital on part of the existing site of Jersey General Hospital, an application seeking outline planning permission is being prepared. With a project of this scale there is a lot of information that has to be gathered to support the application.

These presentations were delivered to members of the voluntary sector who attended a workshop in November 2016. The event advised stakeholders how they could get involved in shaping the Future Hospital. The aim of the workshop was to gather stakeholders’ greater knowledge of local conditions and opinions on matters that interested them.  We are developing a hospital for the whole island and we want to speak to as many people as possible about their ideas for their hospital.

Title: Hospital Pre-Feasibility Spatial Assessment Project – Jersey General Hospital Strategic Outline Case

This Strategic Outline Case describes the process that has been followed in investigating and evaluating a range of options for the development of a new acute general hospital, designed to achieve the objectives established in States Report and Proposition P.82/2012: “Health and Social Services – A New Way Forward”. This Strategic Outline Case identifies the options for development that have been considered, explains the benefits and risks associated with each option, assesses the costs associated with the implementation of each shortlisted option and concludes with a recommended way forward.
